PLANNING MEETING ANNOUNCED

PLANNING MEETING:  To qualify for the TRT you will need to attend the planning meeting on Sunday, May 16th at Bayside Church in room C-235 next Sunday from 5:00 - 7:00.  Bayside Church is located at 8211 Sierra College Boulevard, Roseville, CA.   We will ask that you demonstrate both experience with elevation and a fitness level adequate to this level of exertion.

WHO: We would like to form a team of BAS members interested in completing the TRT. These are four boot hikes and will span across 6 weekends.   It is limited to those who can demonstrate both experience with elevation and a fitness level adequate to this level of exertion.

WHAT: The Tahoe Rim Trail (TRT) is know as “A trail like no other”.  It is a world class travel destination that passes through two state lines (California and Nevada), and six counties.  The trail is 165 mile winding peak to peak around Lake Tahoe.  The trail rises from the lakeshore and climbs through forests and meadows to ridges 8,000 feet or higher.
Once we’ve completed all sections of the TRT, you can register to join the 165 Miler Club.  The Tahoe Rim Trail Association will give you a 165 mile patch, a beautiful full color certificate of completion, put your name in the 165 Mile Club Log Book, on the website, and in the Trail Blazer. All of these will be reminders of one of your greatest achievements. See www.tahoerimtrail.org for details of becoming a TRT member.
WHERE: The schedule is as follows:
June 5th- Spooner Summit to Kingsbury Grade 12.2 Miles
June 12th- Kingsbury Grade to Big Meadow 22.8 Miles
June 26th – Big Meadow to Echo Lakes 17.5 Miles
(This will be a overnight. We will plan to car camp at Bay View)
July 10-11 – Echo Lake to Barker Pass 32.5 Miles

Tahoe City to Brockway Summit – 19.2 Miles
Aug 7th -Brockway Summit to Tahoe Meadow 18.9 Miles

WHEN: The segments for each hike ranges from 12-33 miles so plan on at least 8-10 hours on the trail. We will plan to stop for dinner on the way home.  We will need to shuttle cars, so plan to meet at 5:30 am.  For Hikes on the 80 side, we will meet at Bayside Church in Granite Bay, for hikes on 50 side, we will meet at Starbuck on Prairie City.  During the planning meeting, we discuss the options of camping on Friday night.
